Encouragement – Courage
Courage the cowardly dog screaming in mlp style by sdvstudiosofficial df47jcd

Hello, my dearest Adventurers!

This week we will be talking about courage. The Creator was insistent on me talking about it and that I would do my best to embody it. I have been shown that I have been embodying courage (and resilience) just through the official launch of A Mindful Adventure. I have been shown that I must continue to show up and be courageous as I face uncertainty in my own life. I got hit with Courage the Cowardly Dog all over the platforms I use to watch videos on, around the time I got serious about what I’m going to be posting this week. I have come to realize that this pink dog is truly the embodiment of courage and a wonderful tool to add depth to this week’s blog post. Because even though he is terrified of nearly everything, he shows up and shows out when it’s time.

His most iconic line, “The things I do for love…” is indeed his motivator above all else; he loves his family even if Eustace treats him horribly. He will do pretty much anything for Muriel, and she keeps giving him love at the end of the day.

What is courage really, though? Is it only large gestures, or is it the small things? Maybe it’s a combination of both and the resolve to do what you can. We will dive into this topic together and truly see how courage can be embodied in our daily lives, because I can tell you now, it has nothing to do with being fearless. It is a more profound action that can be the difference between staying or playing it “safe” and living your best life.

The Inner Coward & Our Fears

We all feel fear – unless your amygdala is severely damaged, that built-in alarm system is working overtime to keep you alive. Back in ancient times, before vast cities kept us safe, this fear was our constant companion. It helped us spot danger, prioritize survival, and stick with the tribe, because stepping outside the known path could literally be a death sentence. To be ostracized meant losing protection, food, and support.

This primal instinct, this 'monkey brain' of ours, caused humans to develop deep fears around breaking norms and going against the grain. For the majority of our existence, sticking to the 'roads most traveled' was essential for survival. But here’s the thing, my dear Adventurers: we don't need to live like that anymore. This fear that once kept us safe now often holds us captive, creating problems where none exist and convincing us to stay small, even when our souls crave something more.

Just like Courage the Cowardly Dog, we must overcome the built-in fears that keep us small. He is terrified of even birds, yet he will take care of business and deal with those birds if it means saving or protecting Muriel and getting his home back in order. Courage has the courage to step up and do the thing even if the odds are stacked against him, even if he doesn’t know, even if he’s scared out of his own mind, because that’s what courage is. He will do the impossible to make sure his loved ones are cared for, and if he needs a breather, he takes one. It doesn’t make him weak or less than; this just shows us that he is a mortal, similar to us.

Courage as Vulnerability & Soul Expression

When we truly embody courage, much like our favorite pink dog, we must confront and embrace our vulnerabilities – those raw, authentic parts of ourselves that often feel exposed. It's a profound realization that our vulnerability is not a weakness, but a radical form of strength. This is the capacity to stand authentically for ourselves, our deepest values, and those we cherish, even when our knees are knocking. The way we choose to embody this courage profoundly influences every facet of our being: our actions, our internal landscape, and our external world. It demands a conviction that pushes us beyond the comfortable status quo, beyond what feels normal, and beyond our current perceived limitations. True courage calls us to step up, take bold initiative in our own lives, and actively pursue the goals our souls truly yearn for.

For me, I was terrified of posting on social media, and any of my close friends probably know I rarely ever posted anything before I began A Mindful Adventure. I was terrified that if I posted something someone didn’t like, I would be ostracized by everyone (I know, pretty extreme, right?). I would talk myself out of posting anything and force myself to post only things I was confident in, like when I legally changed my last name. I got all in my head on why I shouldn’t post, why it was going to turn into my own personal nightmare, and then it eventually turned into social anxiety. I began to get worried that people would recognize me and do something to me (even though I didn’t add random people to my personal accounts). I would get paranoid in large crowds and eventually stop going to large gatherings. Because I had the idea that if it’s on the internet, anyone can get to it, and everyone was out to get me. Even though I did nothing wrong and didn’t post sensitive things that would warrant me to be fearful in the way that I was.

The fact that I’m able to post my face on a public account and no longer feel the need to hide is a major act of courage. It was a process, and some things don’t always make it to the final cut, but I know that I must embody my most authentic self at all times. This week's Monday Motivation video really captured my randomness and my ability to be goofy. I felt empowered when I edited it and got it ready to post. I know that, that is something to be proud of. To be vulnerable, even though I could have continued doing what I had in the past. I know it will probably take me a few more videos to really cultivate my image tied to A Mindful Adventure. But I know that if I put myself out there in this way, I can inspire others to step out of their comfort zones and to become the version of themselves that does what it takes despite being petrified.

Courage in Daily, Mindful Action

When we embody courage and truly show up for ourselves, it undeniably takes guts. Our 'monkey brain,' as we discussed, often screams that being courageous is the wrong path. It will demand we go against other people's expectations, even their perceived 'expertise,' to get there. There's no way around it: we must sacrifice our current comfort, engage with unfamiliar challenges, and definitively set boundaries, establishing where we end and another person, place, or thing begins. These aren't just obstacles; they are the essential acts required if we hope to truly find ourselves and unlock our fullest potential.

To become something new, we must decisively do something new. Like Courage the dog, who always finds a way despite overwhelming odds, we too must develop three crucial pillars in the face of adversity: unwavering self-reliance, resourceful adaptability, and the cultivation of self-discipline. Without these, our hopes of achieving any goal, no matter how small or monumental, remain merely whispers.

To truly rely on yourself is to consciously tap into that powerful 'gut feeling' I've mentioned across our adventures thus far. This isn't just a hunch; it's your subconscious database, a deep knowing your body keeps tabs on even when your conscious mind is distracted. This potent signal from your gut may often present itself by directly opposing external understandings or popular expectations. It can compel you to go against the grain, inevitably stirring self-doubt, worry, or even anxious fear. Yet, even when you intuitively know what you must do, that primal discomfort can still cause you to want to falter.

When you tap into your resources, you proactively seek external insights for situations where you may not yet have the immediate answer. While I firmly believe all the true solutions to your conflicts ultimately come from within, even when you feel utterly lost, external input can be invaluable. Another person's experience or perspective might trigger a revelation within you, or simply affirm that your intuitive idea was indeed the right one. These vital resources can manifest as tangible support, inspiring stories from other humans, or even profound guidance channeled directly from the Universe. By keeping your goals in sight and persistently working towards them, the right answers will invariably emerge in due time.

Finally, cultivating true self-discipline streamlines all the processes we've discussed in this section. Many of us balk at the word 'discipline,' perhaps associating it with harshness or restriction. But I'm here to show you it's quite the opposite: self-discipline is, at its heart, an act of profound self-love. Consider how diligently you work for a new house, new friends, a vehicle, or a new job. You wait, you strategize, you put in the sustained effort to obtain these external desires. To withhold that same level of dedicated effort from your own growth, your personal goals, and your deepest aspirations is not a lack of caring; it's a missed opportunity to prioritize your own well-being and deepest desires. Self-discipline is simply the consistent choice to show up for yourself, because you are worthy of that effort.

Trusting the Unseen Path (Signs & Miracles)

It’s paramount to trust the process and the Creator's divine plan—especially when you feel a calling on your heart that seems worth the obstacles. If you don’t pursue what you’re truly meant to do, even if you feel utterly incapable, the weight of that unfulfilled potential will surely lead to regret later on. As the ancient Greek historian Thucydides wisely put it: 'The secret to happiness is freedom… and the secret to freedom is courage.'

This freedom, rooted in courage, often reveals itself through profound signs from the Creator. Take, for instance, the 'Perfect' episode (Season 4, Episode 13) of Courage the Cowardly Dog. Courage found himself trapped in a rigid 'box' of perfection, imposed by a strict inner critic. He struggled with basic functions, losing sight of his true goofy self. It wasn't until the seemingly insignificant fish, from an earlier baklava attempt, delivered a powerful message: he didn’t need to be perfect; he was amazing just as he was. That simple statement unlocked his authentic best, allowing him to dissolve the inner critic. This wasn't a coincidence; it was a clear sign to embrace his truest self. The Creator consistently sends us signs, people, and experiences—often in the most unexpected forms—to remind us who we truly are and the unique gifts we have to offer the world. Our role is simply to be receptive and keep an open mind as we pursue our goals.

Our lives are in constant flux, ever-changing and evolving. So, it’s vital to learn to release our grip on comfort zones and embrace every possibility that unfolds. Once we approach the unknown with open arms and deeply trust that every step brings us closer to our higher selves, navigating adversities becomes significantly easier. When you release what you think ought to happen, that’s precisely when the Creator can fully support and guide you through your struggles, revealing a path more perfect than you could have ever imagined.

Your Courageous Adventure:

So, dearest Adventurers, always remember: courage isn't the absence of fear, but the profound ability to act despite it. Our primal 'monkey brain' may try to keep us small, but you've journeyed through history's fears and walked alongside Courage the Cowardly Dog, seeing that true strength lies in facing the unknown head-on.

It takes radical courage to embrace your vulnerabilities, listen to your gut, tap into your unique resources, and cultivate the self-discipline that is truly an act of self-love. You are already embodying this courage simply by navigating your life, and I hope this adventure through today's post empowers you to lean even further into your magnificent potential.

You are so much more than you think, capable of achieving goals your soul truly yearns for. The Creator is watching, cheering you on, and knows every bold step you take and every dream you hold. You are never alone, you are deeply loved, and you are supported every step of the way, even when it feels like the path is obscured.

Step boldly into your authentic self, embrace the adventure, and know that your story of courage is just beginning. Until next time, Dearest Adventurers!
